Day One - Kavos to Lefkimmi

We start on the edge of Kavos, famous with 18 to 30 year olds. Arkoudilas beach is the start of the Trail along Corfu's wild west coast which reminds me of Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way. On day six we walk along Myrtiotissa, which Lawrence Durrell said was the 'most beautiful beach in the world'. Arkoudilas Beach is my runner-up in Corfu. Edward Lear painted the now-deserted Arkoudilas monastery.

For walkers it is an easy, beautiful five-hour stroll away from the tourist bustle in remote, underdeveloped countryside. We finish in Lefkimmi and eat beside a picturesque river.
